Fil-Canadian student reaps C$70K college scholarship

Ervin Cadiz, a graduate of Byrne Creek Community School, a public high school in BurnabyBritish Columbia, was awarded a $70,000 TD Scholarship for Community Leadership.

Cadiz was active in student government before he co-founded the Community School Union, a group that brings the voice of students to the school council and inter-agency meetings. He started this  year at University of British Columbia, major in psychology.

Through this club, Cadiz  helped introduce important resources to students, including mental health services, a safe space for LGBTQ+ persons, and Black History Month events. He also founded his school’s first esports club, with citywide tournaments and charity fundraisers that boosted participant self-confidence.”

Since 1995 TD, a top 10 North American bank, has awarded millions in scholarships to recognize students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community leadership.

TD Scholarship for Community Leadership recipients receive up to $70,000 for tuition and living expenses as well as opportunities for paid summer employment, peer networking and mentorship..

The class of 2022 from the Burnaby School District won a total of $6.8 million in scholarships and bursaries this year.Prices range from a few hundred dollars to $100,000.
