UC San Diego senior swims for PH in Budapest world games

Manila-born Miranda Renner, a Filipina American senior at University of California San Diego, swam for the Philippines in the 19th Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Games in Budapest, Hungary.

Renner is with Team Philippines led by head coach Marko Djordjevic. She joined on the team by Filipina-Saudi Jasmine Alkhaldi and fellow Fil-Am Jonathan Cook of Stanford University. She was born in Manila to Christopher and Marjorie Renner.

Renner qualified for Worlds after her performance at the 31st Southeast Asian Games. In Hanoi, Vietnam she medaled twice while representing Team Philippines. Renner took bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and silver in the 100-meter medley relay. She then set a national record for the Philippines in the 50-meter butterfly, breaking the three-year record from 2019.

Renner debut in Budapest June 23 at the World stage with 57.80 time in the Women’s 100m Freestyle event, finishing 31st among 63 swimmers. The following day she finished Women’s 50m Butterfly prelims with a time of 27.22, enough to rank 32nd among 60 swimmers from around the World.
