FCC tips on how to avoid robocalls
WASHINGTON, DC – Consumer tip cards on how to avoid robocalls are now available in Island Pacific Supermarkets, in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
The National Asian American Coalition (NAAC) explained that the FCC cards provide customers with helpful information for avoiding unwanted calls and texts, including robocalls, which are consistently among the top problems consumers cite when filing complaints with the agency. FCC rules limit many types of robocalls.
The cards will be available at four stores in California – in Union City, Panorama City, Vallejo, and Elk Grove. Store customers will find the cards displayed at check-out lines and NAAC kiosks alongside consumer materials on financial issues.
The Island Pacific Supermarket stores have NAAC’s staff and kiosk tablets where customers can access consumer information in their own language on several topics.
FCC consumer information in AAPI languages could expand soon to more Island Pacific Supermarkets in California, Nevada and Washington.
The NAAC is a non-profit community advocacy group that works with African-American, Latino and Asian American organizations on broadband adoption, home ownership and small business lending.
The Island Pacific Supermarket chain is an ethnic Filipino community-based grocery store specializing in Filipino cuisine with an emphasis on Asian products. There are 18 Island Pacific Supermarkets in California, one in Nevada and one in the state of Washington. The headquarters office is in Walnut, California.
