PAL unveils first-ever nationally crowd sourced Inflight Safety Video

WATCH: PAL “Heart of the Nation” Inflight Safety Video

Starting this year, Philippine Airlines will be showing the Heart of the Nation Inflight Safety Video promoting the importance of travel safety as it brings passengers to different destinations all over the Philippines and the world.

PAL’s inflight safety video, which is in line with the company’s brand equity “The Heart of the Filipino,” was co-developed with McCann Worldgroup Philippines, Inc. with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

A first-of-its-kind in the world, the nationwide crowdsourced inflight safety video was inspired by two unique Filipino traits – being “maaruga” (caring) and the spirit of “bayanihan” (unity/cooperation).

The production, which kicked off in Legazpi and continued in Cebu, Boracay, Davao, Coron, Laoag, Bohol, Cagayan De Oro and Manila, entailed auditions in the nine Philippine destinations. Filipinos from these nine provinces were invited to audition and demonstrate the latest safety guidelines for PAL’ safety video.

“Last year, Philippine Airlines celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a renewed mission and vision of becoming a 5-star full-service airline by 2020. As more and more people fall in love with flying, we recognize the responsibility to provide our passengers a level of care that goes beyond the call of duty – especially when it comes to their safety,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista.

“The crowdsource concept makes PAL’s new safety video unique in the airline world. It is engaging because it is two-pronged: it provides the latest safety guidelines and also generates interest to travel to and within the Philippines,” he added.

“With this new inflight safety video, together with our well-trained crew and updated safety guidelines and procedures, we want to show the world how the Heart of the Filipino cares like no other. The beauty of the Philippines and the warmth of the nation are the perfect backdrop for the first-ever nationwide crowd sourced inflight safety video made by the Filipinos, for the Filipinos and the world,” he added.

While enhancing its services as it aims to be a full service, five star airline, PAL’s focus on safety conciousness remains top priority. Over the coming weeks, the video will be part of a worldwide safety advocacy campaign that aims to strengthen passenger knowledge on safety. The said campaign will commence within the month (February) culminating with an experiential event this March.

PAL VP for Marketing Ria Domingo adds, “Because of the advent of technology, today’s travelers have quite a number of distractions especially before the plane takes off, which is also about the time we show our inflight safety demonstration and video. Safety and service are the strengths of Philippine Airlines. Through this creative collaboration between PAL and McCann Worldgroup Philippines, we believe that this fresh and innovative inflight safety video will drive home that message to our passengers.”
