Filipina killed in Toronto hit-and-run

TORONTO – A 50-year-old Filipina was killed in a hit-and-run in this city’s Briar Hill neighborhood on Monday, June 11. The family of the victim, Isabel Soria, is urging the driver to come forward.

Soria was crossing the street to renew her license at Service Ontario on Monday afternoon in the area of Dufferin Street and Briar Hill Avenue when she was struck by the driver of a silver or gray Dodge Ram pickup truck, just steps away from her residence. Soria died in the hospital. She lived in Canada for 18 years.

The driver of the truck fled the crash scene is still at large.

Soria’s husband, who moved to Canada from the Philippines last year to be with his family, was waiting for a bus just steps away from the scene of the crash when his wife was hit, according to a report by 24-hour-news CP24.

Police have described the driver as a white male in his 30s who was wearing a construction vest at the time of the collision. His truck, they said may have sustained some damage in the crash.
